Vikings Attack!

Witness a Viking raid on Butser Ancient Farm!

Activities free with your admission!
Normal entrance prices apply.

Discover life in the ‘Dark Ages’ and see a historic clash between Saxons and Vikings in one of our biggest reenactments of the year! Join us for a full day of living history and spectacular battles as a warband of Saxons defends the farm against Viking raiders.

It’s the end of the 8th Century CE, and the Norsemen have set their sights on England. When a Viking raiding party approaches Butser, it’s up to the resident Saxons to defend their homes! Who will win this clash of ages and reign victorious?

An immersive day out full of combat displays, battles, living history, and more. Meet everyday people from the past, from a Saxon wise woman to a Viking family, and see the difference between a Saxon champion and a Viking warrior in action!

Explore Saxon and Viking encampments with reenactment groups Herigeas Hundas and Wuffa. Don’t forget to bring some pennies as there will be traders selling some of their beautiful crafts throughout the weekend.
