Learn a million-year-old technology and create one of humanity’s oldest tools! Taught by prehistoric craftsman and experimental archaeologist Jonathan Dymond, travel back to the beginning of human innovation, learn the ancient techniques used to shape flint, and create your very own hafted tool with flint, wood, twine, and pitch. In order to make it accessible, we have a ‘pay what you can’ system.

About the workshop

Due to the generosity of the tutor, we’re in the lovely position of being able to offer this workshop on a pay-what-you-can basis in the spirit of accessibility and community. It is completely up to you how much you wish to contribute; we will never ask you to justify your choice. If you are able, please consider choosing the ‘pay it forward’ option to support our work and help subsidise costs for others.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear for this workshop. Lunch is not included, although sandwiches (subject to availability), hot and cold drinks, and snacks are sold in our gift shop. You’re also welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer!

This workshop is intended for adults, but suitable for ages 10+. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults do not need workshop tickets themselves but are required to pay the site entrance fee.
