Come and sit around the fire in our Great Roundhouse to listen to magical stories about children who turn into foxes, and those who run with the deer. Find out what to do if you grow a tail that you must keep hidden from grownups! Hear about what happens when you meet your own wild twin in the woods! Learn about kind witches, dancing mice and talking trees.

Come to Butser to help storyteller and author Bernadette Russell collect her Compendium of Magical Words by using your amazing imaginations to make up your own. As well as the stories, you'll discover your very own animal guide, help create magic poems, and enjoy your own wild side! After the storytelling we'd love you to pass on any of the stories you've heard to your brothers, sisters, cousins, grandmas, teachers so that you become a storyteller too!

Bernadette has told stories at many venues including the National Theatre, Royal Albert Hall and Imagine Children's Festival at the Southbank Centre. She loves to tell stories outside best of all - in woods, on river banks and beaches, honouring our oldest stories and revisiting them for the 21st century.

There will be a bar selling locally produced cider, mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Hot drinks and snacks will also be available to be purchased from our shop.
