A giant king. A broken promise. Families and nations feud, and the powers of the earth itself watch and wait for good or ill...

Acclaimed storyteller Jon Norman-Mason draws together archaeology, folklore and medieval myth to imagine the beliefs of our Iron Age forebears: from the treasures (and bodies) left as offerings in lakes, pits and bogs, to tales hinting at the blessings hoped for in return. Gods and mysteries, love and magic – it's all waiting if you dare, just beneath our feet!

Jon is a storyteller and public historian, performing regularly at festivals, schools, online and at storytelling clubs across the UK, who loves to share tales about both times gone by and the modern day, blending fact and fantasy, from all over the world, for kids and grownups.

He has appeared in the Brighton Fringe Festival; his telling of the history and legends around the Uffington White Horse, Chasing the Sun, sold out an extended run in 2020, and he was shortlisted for the national Get A Word In Edgeways Step Up Commission in 2023.

Please note this performance will be suitable for ages 12+. An afternoon event is also available for those with families ages 6+.

There will be a bar selling locally produced cider, mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Hot drinks and snacks will also be available to be purchased from our shop.

"This is wildly ambitious exuberant storytelling!” - Brighton Source

“You really brought those stories to life and it made me wonder why we don’t all know these stories of this beautiful land better. I want to go and visit those places now!” – Guesthouse Storytellers, Newhaven
