Use all-natural materials to create your own ancient artwork!
Tickets £80
Discover ancient art — prehistoric cave paintings, Iron Age shield decorations, Roman frescoes — and follow in our ancestors’ footsteps to craft pigments, paint, and even paintbrushes from nature!
Under the expert guidance of Caroline Nicolay, experimental archaeologist and living history practitioner, you’ll use foraged materials to make your own paint and paintbrushes. Create pigments from natural minerals, experiment with binders from honey-water to wheat paste to turn them into paints, and make paintbrushes from foraged materials including feathers, plant fibres, animal hair, and more.
