Festival of Archaeology: Behind the scenes on the Bronze Age build
Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd July.
2pm
Normal admission prices apply. General admission tickets for the day must be booked in advance - please gather at the visitor centre at 2pm to join the tour.
As part of the Festival of Archaeology join us to discover behind the scenes on our latest Bronze Age roundhouse construction. At 2pm on Wednesday and Thursday we’ll be giving an outdoor tour of the build site, discussing our progress so far and the lessons we’ve learned as we bring the Bronze Age to Butser.
This project is the first time we have built a Bronze Age structure at the farm and we are testing out some new theories and experiments about roundhouse construction in the process.
This project is also our first collaboration with Operation Nightingale, An initiative that assists the recovery of wounded, injured and sick military personnel and veterans by getting them involved in archaeological projects.
Meet some of the team involved in the build and find out how we re-construct the past at Butser.
