Evening at the Edge of the Empire - Mead, Music and Storytelling

An evening of outdoor entertainment to bring you to the edge of the Roman Empire with performances from the Saxons from Herigeas Hundas and Romans and Celts from the Vicus, alongside professional storytellers and musicians.
Enjoy mead, music and storytelling as you are transported back to the 4th century AD in the wonderful outdoor setting of our Iron Age roundhouses. Please bring your own low backed seating or picnic blankets - picnics welcome.
There will be a bar selling mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.
This exclusive evening event is part of our wider ‘Battle for Britannia’ weekend which will see the Saxon war-band Herigeas Hundas invade the Iron Age Village and Roman Villa at Butser Ancient Farm -defended by Iron Age and Roman combatants from The Vicus.
Please note this is an outdoor performance which will take place whatever the weather. We will be ensuring that visitors can be socially distanced and that there is amplification of the performances to ensure a brilliant experience for all.
All profits from the evening will go to supporting the ongoing educational and research work of Butser Ancient Farm.
