Gather in the Great Roundhouse at Butser Ancient Farm as we mark the shortest day of the year with an afternoon of storytelling and meditation. As the sun sets we invite you to connect with your inner worlds, the land around you, and the wider community at Butser Ancient Farm. Jonathon Huet, The Woodland Bard will recite the ancient stories of the Celtic traditions with gentle drumming, poetry and prose.

The Winter Solstice has long been a time of celebration and ritual, acknowledging the moment from which the days will lengthen, and the sun's warmth and light will begin to return, as the cycle of the year continues its journey.

We shall explore the traditional stories of this special time and meditate on the themes that present themselves. The meditations will be based on the indigenous roots of Celtic traditions which reflect the modern need for a deep connection to nature and an understanding of ecology.

There will be a bar selling locally produced mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Hot drinks and snacks will also be available to be purchased from our shop.

Come and join us to gather around the fire to celebrate the rebirth of the sun!
