Discover a craft that has never been replicated by a machine… Taught by expert heritage craftsperson Louise Arthur, learn the traditional and sustainable craft of basket weaving. Discover how to weave a frame or rib basket from willow. Relax into a mediative rhythm as you craft a rustic basket from natural materials. Manual dexterity and patience is required for this full day course.

Louise Arthur is a basketmaker and teacher based in Hampshire, UK. She combines contemporary design and heritage skills with her passion for the environment. Her baskets are hand woven from sustainably grown British willow and often incorporate hedgerow plants, foraged fibres and coppiced wood. She weaves people and nature together.

Included in your ticket

Entrance to the farm, a full day’s tuition and expertise, and all the tools and materials necessary to make your own willow basket.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear for this workshop. Lunch is not included, although sandwiches (subject to availability), hot and cold drinks, and snacks are sold in our gift shop. You’re also welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer!

This workshop is intended for adults, but suitable for ages 16+. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults do not need workshop tickets themselves but are required to pay the site entrance fee.
