Give back to nature by learning to weave a functional and beautiful natural bird feeder, designed to hold fat balls. Equally, these multifunctional woven objects can be used to store onions. Taught by expert heritage craftsperson Louise Arthur, learn to work with willow. Beginners welcome; manual dexterity and patience is all that is required.

Louise Arthur is a basketmaker and teacher based in Hampshire, UK. She combines contemporary design and heritage skills with her passion for the environment. Her baskets are hand woven from sustainably grown British willow and often incorporate hedgerow plants, foraged fibres and coppiced wood. She weaves people and nature together.

Entrance to the farm, a half day’s tuition and expertise, tools, pre soaked willow, and formers will be provided for you to create two holders.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear for this workshop. Lunch is not included, although sandwiches (subject to availability), hot and cold drinks, and snacks are sold in our gift shop. You’re also welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer!
This workshop is intended for adults, but suitable for ages 16+. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults do not need workshop tickets themselves but are required to pay the site entrance fee.
