Vegetarian Saxon Cookery Workshop

Learn how to cook Saxon food and taste some of the oldest recipes in England! Guided by Craig Brooks, author of cookbook Eat Like a Viking!, discover foods like sweet Saxon bread, nettle and wild garlic soup, and meadowsweet mead, and eat your meal in an authentic Saxon hall. Vegan-friendly options included. This workshop is suitable for ages 18+.

  • One-day workshop, 10am - 4pm with a break for lunch

  • Set in the unique surroundings of Butser Ancient Farm’s historic buildings

Included in your ticket

Entrance to the farm, a full day’s tuition and expertise, and all the tools, materials, and ingredients necessary to cook and eat a delicious vegetarian Saxon meal in a historic setting.


This workshop is suitable for ages 18+.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear for this workshop.

Food is included in this workshop, but you may want to bring your own snacks as well. Sandwiches (subject to availability), hot and cold drinks, and snacks are sold in our gift shop.
