Come and find out what happens When ArchAeology meets storytelling!
Single ticket £18
Mammoth bones, human skulls, a glorious helmet buried in an ancient ship... Imagine what stories these ancient treasures might tell us if they had a voice!
Join us in Butser's Great Roundhouse for an afternoon of incredible, imaginative storytelling, bringing to life some of the most extraordinary archaeological finds from the distant past.
Anthropologist and TV presenter Mary-Ann Ochota (Time Team, Mystic Britain) and award-winning storyteller Jason Buck weave together fact, fiction, and ancient myth to tell vivid and original tales around four amazing finds, and share the real archaeology behind these discoveries.
Gods and magic, hunting and history, these tales are based in real 21st Century archaeological science and breathe life back into the distant past, bringing a voice to ancient people whose names are now lost to time. Entertaining, intriguing, and occasionally bizarre, this is a unique journey through 15,000 years of British archaeology.
There will be a bar selling locally produced cider, mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Hot drinks and snacks will also be available to be purchased from our shop.
Mary-Ann Ochota is probably best known for popping up on telly, presenting shows like Time Team and Mystic Britain and has written books on British archaeology including Hidden Histories: A Spotter’s Guide to the British Landscape and Secret Britain: Unearthing our Mysterious Past. She specialises in archaeology, anthropology and outdoor adventure.
Award winning storyteller Jason Buck has been a performer most of his adult life, including gurning, comedy and sword swallowing, but his passion lies in stories. - there's nothing like getting lost in a story, the pictures in your head are better than film. He’s published five collections of stories, including Ragged Miser and Stories from the Woods and Wild Places.
