Join award-winning storytellers Dawn Nelson and Jason Buck as they pay homage to hags, witches and wild women, bringing them to life through their fantastical tales.
Dawn is a performance storyteller and writer based within the beautiful South Downs. Her passion is landscape, heritage and nature connection through the wonder of story in all its forms.

There will be a bar selling locally produced cider, mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Hot drinks and snacks will also be available to be purchased from our shop.

Dawn Nelson and Jason Buck team up for a dynamic storytelling duo!
Dawn Nelson is a professional storyteller and author performing at festivals and events around the country. Her passion is connecting people with nature, history and the landscape that surrounds them, through the voices of our ancestors found in traditional storytelling.
Jason Buck is an award-winning storyteller and frequent Butser bard, filling our Great Roundhouse with tales of heroes and adventure. He has published five collections of stories, including Ragged Miser and Stories from the Woods and Wild Places, and has also been known to perform sword swallowing!

An hour and a half of original storytelling weaving together myths and tales of witchcraft with enthralling performance, told in a cosy Iron Age roundhouse. Hear fantastic stories and gaze at the crackling fire, while visiting a place that’s one-of-a-kind.
USEFUL INFORMATION: You may wish to bring a blanket or cushion to make your seat more comfortable. Please wear sensible footwear and dress for the weather.
TIMINGS: This special event starts at 4:30pm, so please arrive at 4:15pm. The event will finish at 6pm.
FIRES: Please note there will be open fires in the house during this event.
PURCHASES: There will be a bar at this event and the opportunity to buy hot drinks, snacks, and gifts in our shop.
ALCOHOL: No alcohol to be brought into the event.
ANIMALS: We are sorry but dogs (apart from assistance dogs) are not invited to this special event.
REFUNDS: We cannot offer any refunds on tickets unless Butser Ancient Farm needs to cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances.
SPECIAL EVENT: This event is not included as general admission for our annual pass holders. This ticket is for access to the timed event only and does not include full admission to the Farm.
