Taught by prehistoric craftsman and experimental archaeologist Jonathan Dymond, travel back to the beginning of human innovation, learn the ancient techniques used to shape flint, and create your very own hafted tool with flint, wood, twine, and pitch. In order to make it accessible, we have a ‘pay what you can’ system.

Jonathan Dymond is an experimental archaeologist and prehistoric skills educator based in Devon. He has been teaching and demonstrating flint-knapping and other prehistoric crafts for over 8 years, working with museums in the UK and internationally and as well as working with school groups and living history projects. Jonathan studied Experimental Archaeology at Exeter University and Environmental Arts at Plymouth university. He is passionate about blending archaeological study with artistic expression.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear for this workshop. Lunch is not included, although sandwiches (subject to availability), hot and cold drinks, and snacks are sold in our gift shop. You’re also welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer!
This workshop is intended for adults, but suitable for ages 10+. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults must also buy a workshop tickets themselves.
