Bread Platter Making Workshop

Celebrate the beginning of the harvest season, often known as Lughnasadh/Lammas by creating a platter for the humble bread loaf and all things freshly baked. Discover how to make these natural cooling trays from willow under the guidance of expert heritage craftsperson Louise Arthur, from Rough Around the Hedges. You will have a choice of bark on and pale stripped willow and will probably have time for two trays.

Louise Arthur is a basketmaker and teacher based in Hampshire, UK. She combines contemporary design and heritage skills with her passion for the environment. Her baskets are hand woven from sustainably grown British willow and often incorporate hedgerow plants, foraged fibres and coppiced wood. She weaves people and nature together.

Included in your ticket

Entrance to the farm, a half day’s tuition and expertise, and all the tools and materials necessary to create two bread platters.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear for this workshop. Lunch is not included, although sandwiches (subject to availability), hot and cold drinks, and snacks are sold in our gift shop. You’re also welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer!

This workshop is intended for adults, but suitable for ages 16+. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults do not need workshop tickets themselves but are required to pay the site entrance fee.
