A very exciting project is currently taking place in the Roman Villa at Butser as experts from Kings College London and the London School of Mosaics are currently installing a new mosaic floor in our Hypocaust room using authentic Roman methods.

A mosaic floor was found in this location in Sparsholt Roman Villa, the Villa our reconstruction is based on, but it was missing the central motif due to damage, so the team have come up with a special central element inspired by Butser and our 50th anniversary!

On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July you can see this project in action and join a talk with Dr Will Wootton to get a behind the scenes glimpse of the mosaic being created. Talks will be at 11.15am or 2.15pm each day.
